What is Eastleighio?

A B2B e-Commerce marketplace founded in October 2021 with an aim of scaling businesses across East and Central Africa.Founder is Hassan J. Maube. The trade name is Eastleigh.io and the registereed name is Authentic Eastleigh E.Commerce Limited. This is a vision that was conceptualized during covid-19 period. Eastleigh is a town within Nairobi founded in the year 1902 and is known for its highly competitive prices across East and central Africa. 80% of inhabitants of this town are somali community. Throughout the world, Somali community is known for running Businesses and that’s how Eastleigh became an open space and business hub of East Africa.

The town is well organized with Business Community leadership known as Eastleigh Business District Association. Now with 88 malls and each mall has over 400 outlets, Eastleigh has over 70,000 merchants dealing in different commodities. Being a wholesale market place, it attracts all major imports ranging from Consumer Electronics such has iPhones, android smartphones, accessories, laptops and computer desktops and tablets to men fashion, women fashion, kids clothing, shoes, farm gear, home appliances such as Television sets, sound systems such as home theatre to beddings, curtains, home & office furniture to foodstuffs of different tastes and cultures.

Surprisingly, Eastleigh gets approximately 150,000 to 250,000 customers a day some of which travel as far as Congo Brazzaville, Kigali Rwanda, Kampala Uganda, Bujumbura Burundi, Dodoma, Tanzania, Juba South Sudan and a chain of local merchants from all over Kenya. With total valuation of approximately $200 Billion Dollars, less than 5% of the wholesalers don’t own a website or social media handles where they could scale and get more sales. In fact, some of these merchants closed down during the lockdown in the pandemic period and a lot of money in merchandise lost. For this reason, Eastleigh.io B2B e- Commerce was born. We look into openening the wider market of east and central Africa with a population of over 390 million people.

Eastleigh.io is here not only to scale businesses but also to create more entrepreneurs & job opportunities in the retail and fashion industry. Africa struggles due to fewer opportunities. With surging population, there’s high number of dependency. We seek to provide more opportunities as we steer adoption of technology in Africa.
